Your Hormones' New Favourite Routine: The Eve Breathing Break

Around the Eve office we’re big fans of taking mindful moments out of our days to unwind a little and chill. It makes us happier, calmer, more productive and compassionate towards ourselves and each other.

Thanks to one of our resident yoga teachers (there are three amongst BePure and Eve’s combined ranks!) we often start creative meetings by closing our eyes and taking a few moments to breathe deeply and arrive. Individually we all practice deep, belly breathing at intervals throughout the day.


Breathing Exercise

Your hormones will love this deep, conscious breathing exercise. Deep, mindful breathing switches on our parasympathetic nervous systems (our rest and restore modes) and tells our bodies that it’s safe to focus on making sex hormones (oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone) rather than stress hormones (cortisol and cortisone).

Use this breathing exercise a few times a day for roughly 3-5 minutes. As you inhale, breathe deeply, expanding your lower belly; and as you exhale, pull your belly in towards you spine to press all the oxygen out.
